| | Electronic fences are used to keep dogs contained to one area, and keep them from attempting to escape by giving off a small electrical charge to the dog when the fence is touched or entered by the dog. There are two types of electronic fences, physical and virtual or invisible. The physical fence is a normal fence that has an electric charge running through it, and the virtual fence uses an infrared beam that can be adjusted to different locations, sending a signal to a receiving unit worn on the dog’s collar.
